According to The Athletic, Crystal Palace accept it was a mistake not to send Jesurun Rak-Sakyi out on loan in January, when Rangers were interested.

What’s the story?

Well, at the time, it was the Daily Mail who revealed that Giovanni van Bronckhorst wanted to bring the 19-year-old to Ibrox.

According to Football London, the Eagles decided to keep Rak-Sakyi at Selhurst Park so he could train with the first-team.

Now, however, the south Londoners accept they were wrong to deny the teenager a taste of senior action elsewhere.

In our view, Rak-Sakyi does not find Premier League 2 football challenging enough, and he needed a loan move.

The Crystal Palace No.49 scored 18 goals in 25 Premier League 2 appearances this season, finishing as joint-top scorer alongside Manchester City wonderkid James McAtee.

Interestingly, McAtee – who was a target for Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa – actually turned down a move to Rangers.

As you can clearly see, Rak-Sakyi has dominated the Premier League 2 this season, and is ready for a first-team opportunity.

In our view, Patrick Vieira and Crystal Palace denied their exciting prospect a wonderful opportunity in January.

As you may have heard, Rangers are set to take part in the Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday 18th May.

Rak-Sakyi could’ve been involved in the historic occasion had he been allowed to join Rangers, who instead signed Amad Diallo on loan from Manchester United.

He also missed out on the thrilling Europa League semi-final win over RB Leipzig, in which Ibrox was bouncing.

With his talent, the Crystal Palace gem will surely experience occasions like this at some point in his career.

However, at this stage of his development, spending time with Rangers as they embark on their first European final since 2008 would’ve been special.
