David Moyes has strengthened his influence at West Ham United by hiring his son as a scout, according to the Daily Mail.
Moyes signed a new three-year deal to remain the Hammers’ manager earlier this month and is keen to now revamp the club’s recruitment team. He believes the east London outfit are short of numbers in their scouting department and wants to open a handful of roles.
West Ham also aim to make a number of more senior appointments in the near future to increase their pulling power in the transfer market. The Irons are yet to sign any new players with their only done deal the permanent transfer of Craig Dawson.

Moyes Jr arrives at West Ham after leaving his role as an agent for the Wasserman group. He joins the club in the scouting and recruitment department and will help strengthen the squad at the London Stadium.
The Wasserman group look after a number of players across Europe, including Manchester City’s Aymeric Laporte and Liverpool’s Joe Gomez. They also manage Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, who Tottenham and Arsenal are both monitoring.
Moyes gaining more control at West Ham
Moyes has shown his increasing control and influence over how West Ham are run by hiring his son. Co-owner David Sullivan had already taken a step back in how transfers are managed, per the Evening Standard.
Moyes took control over all incomings at the London Stadium to ensure the Hammers were signing the right players. Now, he is stamping his mark by building on his foundations for the new direction he wants to aim for.
Moyes is establishing his long-term plans after signing a new contract, and the club seem happy to agree with them. That might be wise after Manuel Pellegrini’s tenure, with Moyes admired by the likes of Pep Guardiola for his successes.
“David Moyes – I admire this type of person, like Roy Hodgson,” Guardiola said, via Goal, in February. “They have had incredibly long careers. I would love to have their long careers for many years and have this passion to be manager and to do the job.
“The way he understands football, he does it perfectly. He has a lot of experience. I dream of one day arriving in this position, where everything is calm. They live like a Buddha life – in good and bad moments they are calm.”
