Borussia Dortmund have reportedly begun work on signing RB Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi, who is a target for Arsenal.

According to Sport1, the Bundesliga giants are working ‘intensively’ to sign the German international. With Erling Haaland likely to leave in 2022, a replacement is needed for Dortmund, and Adeyemi appears to be the man for Marco Rose.

The 19-year-old striker has exploded onto the scene this season. Adeyemi already had ten goals in all competitions. And according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are keeping tabs on the former Bayern Munich academy talent.

With Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah also likely to be on the move in 2022, Arsenal are eager to add more firepower upfront. Indeed, Adeyemi could well be an option for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Despite the Gunners having the likes of Folarin Balogun and Gabriel Martinelli on the books, neither youngster has yet to fully nail down a place in the Arsenal starting XI despite their obvious talent.

Indeed, Adeyemi is already showing signs of being a phenomenal striker. The attacker has impressed in both the Austrian Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League. Moreover, his form has led to a Germany call-up already.

And with Salzburg valuing the attacker at £34m at most according to Sky Germany, it’s no wonder multiple clubs are keen on the teenager. Yet this could be a problem for Arsenal. More so when you couple this with the latest report around Dortmund.

With Salzburg coach Matthias Jaissle labelling Adeyemi as a striker who has ‘everything’, the race will certainly be wide open for the attacker as we head into January. And Arsenal could well be beaten by Dortmund.
