Real Madrid have set a €25m (£20m) price tag for Alvaro Odriozola, who Tottenham missed out on last summer to Serie A side ACF Fiorentina.
According to La Nazione via GIFN, the Spanish giants are eager to cash in on the Spanish defender, who was loaned out to Tuscany in the summer following interest from both Tottenham and Fiorentina.
TuttoMercatoWeb reported in August that Spurs were keen on the former Bayern Munich loanee, with right-back a position Fabio Paratici was eager to strengthen in the summer. However, Fiorentina beat the north London club to the punch for Odriozola.
Instead of the Spaniard, Tottenham moved to sign Emerson Royal for a reported £25m according to Sky Sports News. Yet despite arriving with a solid reputation and Spurs beating Arsenal to the Brazilian, the defender has been poor since arriving in England.
Labelled as ‘disappointing’ by former defender Michael Dawson and ‘dross’ by Michael Owen, the 25-year-old has struggled massively since arriving in England, with the Evening Standard even reporting that Antonio Conte was looking to replace Emerson in January.
As for Odriozola, the fullback has flourished with Fiorentina in what has been one of their best seasons in some time, with Gianluca Di Marzio labelled the Spaniard as ‘fantastic’ in Vincenzo Italiano’s system.
Paratici bottled it signing Emerson over Fiorentina star Odriozola

Tottenham’s transfer of late have been disappointing, with Conte being brought in to work alongside Paratici to find the best players that will elevate the north London side to a top-four finish, yet the Italian missing out on Odriozola has been a nightmare for the Spurs official.
The defender has starred for Fiorentina this season, with Madrid now looking to sell Odriozola on the back of his good form. Whilst for Tottenham, they already look eager to offload Emerson, who has been a woeful signing for Spurs since arriving from FC Barcelona.
