Manchester City reportedly offered five players to Tottenham in exchange for Harry Kane early on in the transfer window.

According to the Athletic, Gabriel Jesus, Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling were all offered to Daniel Levy in an attempt to secure the signing of the England captain.

Each player is a full international for their respective nation. However, as per the report, the Tottenham chairman was ‘not interested’ in exchanging any player for Kane.

There was also no indication that any of the players that City offered that they would have agreed to go to Tottenham, as well.

Kane confirmed yesterday on Twitter that he will be staying at Tottenham this season. City have been chasing the attacker all summer. But Daniel Levy has won the battle to keep his star man in north London for another year.

Indeed, it is a huge blow to City, who viewed the attacker as their number one target this window. But for Tottenham and Nuno Espirito Santo, keeping Kane will no doubt be the biggest result they gain this summer.

Indeed, with Kane now leading the line for the Tottenham this season, the north London side have a real shot of fighting for a top-four spot.

Especially if Spurs can secure more signings before the closure of the window next week.
