Rangers are now set to hire Michael Beale as a replacement for Giovanni van Bronckhorst, with QPR expecting to lose their manager.
That is according to talkSPORT, who believe the Championship outfit expect the Bromley-born tactician to return to Ibrox after an approach was made for his services.
Michael Beale set for Rangers return
Well, the QPR boss – who has 35 career wins to his name in management – made a name for himself as a No.2 alongside Steven Gerrard, both at Rangers and then at Aston Villa.
Beale has since made even more of a name for himself as the main man, after QPR took a gamble on him.
The R’s are currently sat seventh in the Championship, outside of the play-off positions only on goal difference, and have a real shot at promotion to the Premier League in the second half of the campaign.
However, everything could soon unravel if talkSPORT are to be trusted.
QPR now expect Beale to leave Loftus Road and return to Glasgow, where he helped Gerrard win the Scottish Premiership title and stop Celtic securing ten titles in a row.
Rangers will be difficult job for Michael Beale
In our view, the vacancy at Ibrox is a very tough task to take on, especially for such a young manager.
Rangers find themselves nine points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership title race, recorded the worst ever Champions League campaign, and are in desperate need of signings to freshen up the squad.

If Beale fails to turn things around, it would put a big dent in his reputation, which is currently on the rise after his impressive start to life at QPR.
It is, in that respect, a risky job to take on, but Beale is at least familiar with life at Ibrox, so it could turn out to be an inspired appointment by the Gers.
