According to BILD, VfB Stuttgart are in desperate need of cash, and have put five key players up for sale as a result – including a target of Tottenham’s.
The Germans news outlet states that Nicolás González is now available this summer, a man who Tottenham are tracking as a potential Gareth Bale replacement according to Sky Sports.
Sasa Kalajdzic, Wataru Endo, Pablo Maffeo and Gregor Kobel – who could also sign for Spurs – are up for sale too.
BILD say that, in the last two seasons, González has submitted transfer requests, although he is yet to do so this year.
Interestingly, that would suggest to us that the 23-year-old wouldn’t be against moving clubs.
The 5-cap Argentina international has endured a stuttering season due to injury problems, making just 15 appearances in the Bundesliga.
However, he’s still managed to score six goals and provide two assists in that time, which is a respectable effort.
The Athletic revealed that VfB Stuttgart want €30 million (£26 million) for their in-demand forward, who Juventus are also eyeing.

What type of player is González?
If you’re wondering what type of player González is, then Arsenal’s former Sporting Director Sven Mislintat made an intriguing comparison.
The German, now working for VfB Stuttgart, told BILD: “I know that, from Aubameyang’s days in Dortmund, he was always in top shape. He arrived on Friday evenings and was able to play on Saturdays. Nico is one of those guys too.”
Mislintat has been tasked with raising some money for the Bundesliga side this summer, as the Coronavirus has ‘”created holes everywhere” for VfB Stuttgart in a financial sense (BILD).

It’s sad to see a club struggling.
However, with Tottenham in need of a huge summer in the market, Daniel Levy has to be ruthless.
If Spurs really do want González, they have to take advantage of VfB Stuttgart’s rough situation.
