According to Kicker, Tottenham could sign VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper Gregor Kobel this summer, as he looks likely to leave the Bundesliga outfit.
The German news outlet state that a top English club is interested in signing the 23-year-old.
Kicker then mention Tottenham as a potential destination, before claiming that Spurs are looking for successors to Hugo Lloris.
The France international’s contract expires in 2022.
VfB Stuttgart want between €15 million – €17 million (£13 million – £14.7 million) for their No.1.
Interestingly, the club’s Sporting Director Sven Mislintat – formerly of Arsenal – already has a replacement in mind. Florian Müller.
Mislintat has previously gone on record praising Kobel. The Bundesliga’s official website quote him as saying: “He’s a top quality player and is very focussed on improving his game.”
It remains to be seen where Kobel ends up this summer, although you can’t deny that Tottenham need to start looking for a new glovesman soon.
As aforesaid, Lloris will be out of contract next year. He is also 34. While goalkeepers can play well into their thirties, Spurs do need to think about his successor.

Kobel certainly has the potential to be that man, although his statistics from this season don’t exactly jump out at you.
The Swiss shot-stopper conceded 54 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances this term as VfB Stuttgart finished ninth.
Kobel also kept just five clean sheets.
However, at 23 years of age, he has all the time in the world to improve his abilities. Not many goalkeepers find their best form at 23 anyway.
His manager at VfB Stuttgart seems to love him regardless of statistics.

The Bundesliga’s official website quote Pellegrino Matarazzo as saying: “He’s a player who does the team the power of good, not just with his goalkeeping but his personality, too. He’s an extremely driven athlete, and a monster of a goalkeeper!”
In our view, it could be worth doing this deal now, before loaning Kobel back to the German outfit until the end of next season.
That way, he’s Tottenham’s property, even if he enjoys a phenomenal season which sees his value soar through the roof.
Keep an eye on this saga, with just days until the transfer window opens on June 9th.
