Slowly but surely, the speculation about Gabriel Magalhaes leaving Arsenal is beginning to solidify.
It started out as a pretty flaky transfer rumour and one without much substance, when you consider that the Brazilian and Ben White were brilliant centre-back partners for most of the 2021-22 campaign.
However, it’s beginning to get a little more serious.
That’s because according to UOL in Brazil, Juventus have made contact to sign the Arsenal defender, who cost £27 million in 2020.
The Italian outfit have an eye on replacing Giorgio Chiellini in Turin and it looks like the Gunners’ powerhouse is a legitimate target.
This is an interesting one because Gabriel to Juve might have implications for Arthur Melo to Arsenal.
Reliable Italian source Gianluca Di Marzio reported four weeks ago that the Serie A giants could offer their £61 million midfielder to the Emirates Stadium club in exchange for Gabriel.
The Gunners were heavily linked with a move to sign Arthur in January, but Rodrigo Bentancur’s transfer to Tottenham Hotspur ultimately scuppered that [UOL].
But with the prospect of Gabriel heading to Italy, a swap deal does have its credibility.
After all, this is a player who Edu really wants at the Emirates and The Athletic reported in January that he had an 18-month loan deal agreed, only for higher-ups at Arsenal to pull rank and veto the thing.
