Wigan Athletic are still said to be ‘heart-broken’ over Tottenham Hotspur signing Alfie Devine from them this summer, according to the Athletic.

Wigan were suffering from severe financial uncertainty at the start of the season, and Tottenham took advantage to snap up Devine in a cut price deal.

The 16-year-old, who has been described as ‘top class’ by Jamie Carragher, has already made quite the impression at Spurs, and he became the club’s youngest ever goalscorer yesterday.

Devine lashed in Tottenham’s fifth goal in their FA Cup success over Marine, as he showcased his potential.

Tottenham’s coaches are said to rate Devine very highly, with his attitude and ability already impressing on the training ground.

Devine has trained with Spurs’s senior group on regular occasions, and appears to be being lined up as a potential first-team star of the future.

His departure is one which is still causing upset at Wigan, who were hoping to see him develop for longer with them.

But Spurs will surely feel that they could have landed a potential bargain, with Devine showing such signs of promise already.
