According to Sport1, Borussia Dortmund have decided to end contract talks with West Ham and Newcastle target Dan-Axel Zagadou.
What’s the story?
Well, the 22-year-old’s current terms expire in June, and Borussia Dortmund were in negotiations to keep him away from West Ham and Newcastle.
Now, however, the Bundesliga side have decided to end talks with the Frenchman, and it seems he will leave for free in June.
Sport1 explain how Zagadou has suffered a number of injury problems since swapping Paris Saint-Germain for Borussia Dortmund in 2017, and his patchy fitness is the reason for the German side pulling out of talks.
It comes after Fussball Transfers revealed Newcastle and Manchester United are interested in signing the towering centre-back.
Elsewhere, L’Equipe claimed that West Ham want to sign Zagadou.
Now, the Premier League trio can sign him for nothing, as he nears free agency this summer.
West Ham and Newcastle should be wary of Dan-Axel Zagadou

In our view, West Ham and Newcastle should be wary of this deal.
As aforesaid, Zagadou has struggled quite badly with injuries at Borussia Dortmund, missing 83 games in total since his arrival.
The defender has suffered torn knee ligaments, muscle problems, metatarsal issues, and also had to undergo knee surgery in 2021.
Of course, things like this can sometimes be overlooked when it comes to a free transfer, due to the lack of a big financial commitment.

However, Zagadou’s injury history should definitely concern David Moyes and Eddie Howe.
In our view, the best option would be to offer the Frenchman a one-year contract, just to check if his body can cope with the demands of Premier League football.
Keep an eye on this saga, as Zagadou looks set to become a free agent within weeks.
