Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero is hoping to sell Omar Colley for around £10 million but Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United are yet to make a bid for the Serie A centre-back, as reported by SampNews24.

A transfer window without Omar Colley is like Red Hot Chili Peppers without the face-melting solos of John Frusciante; just not quite the same.

It was only a matter of time before the 6ft 3ins Gambia international returned to his rightful place in the gossip columns and, with Sampdoria desperately trying to cash in while they can, Colley is once again being linked with a move to the Premier League.

But, much to Ferrero’s disappointment, there remains a paucity of serious, concrete offers for one of Italy’s most reliable defenders.

Will Leeds United finally take Omar Colley to the Premier League?

Reports from Italy claim that Leeds would have no problem meeting Samp’s asking price for the journeyman.

But, according to SampNews24, Colley is not yet the subject of an actual bid from the Premier League outfit.

That may be because Leeds appear to be focusing on strengthening other parts of their team at present, with deals for Barcelona left-back Junior Firpo and Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez edging ever closer.

Once Firpo and Nandez arrive at Elland Road – for a combined fee in the region of nearly £50 million – Leeds may then turn their attention to a centre-back renowned for his positional sense and aerial ability.

Last summer, Colley’s agent admitted that both Sheffield United and Fulham had tried to sign the 28-year-old but ran out of time as the transfer window slammed shut. The Blades and The Cottagers would be relegated nine months later.

Colley also turned down a move to Newcastle in January.
