Borussia Monchengladbach have joined Arsenal in the transfer race for Club Brugge winger Noa Lang as they are convinced reported Everton target Marcus Thuram will leave the club.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who report Gladbach expect Thuram will leave Borussia-Park in the upcoming January sales. The Frenchman is in the final two-years of his contract with Die Fohlen, but no longer sees his long-term future in North Rhine-Westphalia.

So, Monchengladbach have already begun scouting Thuram’s successor, and view Lang as a suitable option after impressing in Belgium. However, the 22-year-old’s efforts at the Jan Breydel Stadium have also caught Arsenal and AC Milan’s attention.

Arsenal have been monitoring Lang’s Club Brugge form for some time, while AC Milan are also now paying close attention. The Netherlands forward has scored four goals and five assists over 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Lang also fired home 17 and assisted 11 goals in 37 appearances after joining on an initial loan last term. An impressive run of form that convinces Club Brugge to value the two-cap forward at €40m (£34m), per Voetbal 24. That’s €10m (£8.5m) more than Arsenal are ready to pay to edge rival interest for a January transfer for Lang.

Monchengladbach deal Arsenal a Lang blow, but Everton a Thuram boost

Monchengladbach’s plans for Lang may be a blow for Arsenal, but also a boost for Everton in pursuit of Thuram. Calciomercato had reported recently that the Toffees, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing the £43k-a-week French forward.

Inter had explored a deal for Thuram last summer, as well, but were only willing to pay €25m (£21m) upfront. However, Die Fohlen wanted €30m (£25m) after the 24-year-old scored 11 and assisted 12 goals across all competitions last season.

Thuram, who can play anywhere in the frontline, is yet to score or assist after two outings this term. The attacker suffered with persistent knee injuries this summer, and tore the medial collateral ligament in his knee in August. The Italy-born ace is yet to feature since.
