According to AS, Fiorentina are already looking to replace Luka Jovic – who was a transfer target for Leeds and West Ham during the summer.

What’s the story?

Well, Jesse Marsch and David Moyes lost out to the Serie A side in the race for the Serbia international.

Fiorentina managed to sign Jovic on a free transfer after his nightmarish spell at Real Madrid, and he looked set to return to his best when scoring four goals on his debut for the Italian outfit in a friendly.

However, things have turned sour in Florence since competitive action began.

Jovic has scored just one goal in ten appearances so far this season, and was left on the bench by Vincenzo Italiano in the last Serie A outing against Hellas Verona as Fiorentina won 2-0.

The 24-year-old himself has called for patience amid pressure on his shoulders to deliver, saying: “It will take me time to find my form. I haven’t played in a long time.”

AS believe Fiorentina are already identifying new striking options with Arthur Cabral also struggling to find the back of the net in Italy.

By the sounds of it, Leeds and West Ham have dodged a bullet with Jovic.

Nightmare for Leeds & West Ham target

During his time at Eintracht Frankfurt, Jovic was one of the deadliest strikers in Europe.

The Serbian scored 40 goals in 93 appearances to earn himself a £60m move to Real Madrid, where he only managed to net three goals in 51 outings.

Jovic certainly had his confidence battered at the Santiago Bernabeu, so we feel Fiorentina should recognise that and give him more time to rediscover his form of old.

He can clearly deliver the goods in the right environment – after all, Real Madrid don’t just spend £60m on anyone.

At the age of 24, Jovic has time on his side to turn things around – hopefully, Fiorentina give him the patience he has requested.
