According to The Sun, super-agent Jorge Mendes has spoken to Daniel Levy about a possible move for Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
It’s claimed that Mendes has made contact with Tottenham about moving for Nuno, and also wants Wolves to take Bruno Lage as his replacement.
The report adds that Nuno was close to joining Arsenal earlier this season before Mikel Arteta managed to save his job over Christmas.
Nuno has largely impressed in charge of Wolves, but this has been a season of change at Molineux, and it maybe wouldn’t be a surprise to see Nuno leave for a new challenge now.
Sunday’s 4-0 defeat to Burnley summed up a disappointing season for Wolves, with the club seeking its identity again after selling Diogo Jota and Matt Doherty as well as losing Raul Jimenez for the season.
Nuno leaving Wolves sounds plausible, but a move to Tottenham doesn’t. Spurs want a progressive, attack-minded coach to replace Jose Mourinho, and Nuno doesn’t really fit that mould.

Additionally, Correio da Manha in Portugal reported last week that Mendes doesn’t want Nuno to go to Tottenham because he sees them as an unstable club – and thought that even before Mourinho took the job there.
So what is the truth? Of the two reports, we’re inclined to believe the claims from Portugal a little more, as Mendes may not want to provide Spurs with another one of his clients having just sacked one of them in Mourinho.
Add in that the reliable Alasdair Gold of Football.London claims that Spurs aren’t pursuing Nuno, and we just can’t see him heading to North London to replace his former Porto boss.
