Baker spent the 2015-16 season on loan at Ashton Gate, and is still said to be highly thought-of by Robins boss Lee Johnson.

The Aston Villa academy product played 34 times for Steve Bruce’s side last term, but has been pushed down the pecking order by recent signings John Terry and Christopher Samba.
It is claimed that Baker’s move could be finalised over the weekend, and it is plausible that the 26-year-old’s arrival could enable the departure of coveted Bristol City centre-back Aden Flint, who has been strongly linked with moves to Birmingham City (Sky Sports) and Leeds United (HITC Sport), among others.
Earlier this week Johnson insisted the Robins had yet to receive any bids for Flint, but the new development could encourage the likes of Birmingham and Leeds to make their approach.
Birmingham centre-back Ryan Shotton has been linked with moves Middlesbrough and Bristol City this summer, while Leeds are looking to strengthen in the same position after last season’s loan star Kyle Bartley returned to Swansea City.
