According to the Daily Mail, Mikel Arteta looks set to keep his job as Arsenal boss – but he may go early next season if results don’t improve.
Arsenal are out of the Europa League after being knocked out in the semi-finals by Villarreal, and their poor Premier league campaign means they won’t be in Europe next season.
Arteta is subsequently under pressure, but is expected to keep his job. Still, the Arsenal hierarchy may be willing to go their separate ways if results don’t improve.
The report adds that Arsenal would likely target the same managers Tottenham are looking at, particularly Rafael Benitez and Ralf Rangnick.
The Daily Mail claimed last month that Spurs are looking at Benitez as a replacement for Jose Mourinho, whilst Bild suggested earlier this month that Rangnick has been offered the Spurs job.
Benitez is currently out of a job having left Chinese side Dalian Professional in January, and has Premier League experience with Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle United.
The 61-year-old has won the Champions League with Liverpool, but his fairly conservative brand of football may not go down too well with the Arsenal faithful who enjoyed their best days under Arsene Wenger.

Rangnick may suit Arsenal a little better in that regard, playing a similar brand of high-energy football to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.
The issue with Rangnick is that he has only taken two managerial jobs since leaving Schalke in 2011, and both were as a interim boss with RB Leipzig as he focused more on an integral role with Red Bull’s football operations.
The German hasn’t been a regular coach over the last 10 years, and dropping him into a big role like Arsenal could be something of a gamble.
With Spurs seeking a manager whilst Arsenal stick by Arteta, one of those targets could end up with Tottenham instead of heading to the Emirates Stadium.
