Report: City and Spurs handed boost for £50m titan as club make decision

Manchester City and Tottenham have seemingly received a boost in their pursuit of RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol, with the German club identifying a replacement for the Croatian international.

According to Sky Germany via GGFN, the Bundesliga side are interested in signing 19-year-old Real Madrid youngster Rada Marin, who has impressed for Los Blancos’ Castilla side this season as Leipzig now view the Spaniard as a potential successor to Gvardiol.

As per the report, Leipzig are expecting the former Dinamo Zagreb defender to leave the club this summer, with the Daily Mail reporting that Tottenham are interested in the defensive titan, with City also keen on Gvardiol as per Sports Bild via Sports Illustrated.

With the Daily Mail mentioning that Leipzig have set a £50m price tag on their star defender, the 20-year-old centre-back could be one of the most expensive transfers of the summer window if City and Tottenham follow through on their interest.

Gvardiol is regarded as one of the most exciting defenders in Europe, with the versatile youngster starring at both left-back and centre-back for Leipzig, yet with the east German side eyeing a replacement for the Croat, City and Tottenham could have a strong chance in landing the youngster this summer.

Indeed, City could benefit with more depth at the back if Nathan Ake is to depart Manchester, whilst Antonio Conte could make Gvardiol his defensive rock in a season that has seen Tottenham leaks goals for the entire campaign.

Gvardiol has come leaps and bounds under Leipzig this season, yet this latest decision from the Bundesliga club could push either City or Tottenham to sign the youngster in the upcoming summer transfer window.

After all, Gvardiol’s qualities both on and off the ball make him perfect for Premier League football, and with Leipzig open to selling with the club finding a successor, City and Tottenham could be tempted to move for the 20-year-old this off-season.
