Chelsea will reportedly look to sign Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar in January after the Slovakian international remained at the San Siro this summer, with Tottenham also interested in the Serie A superstar.

According to CalcioMercatoWeb, the west London side will retain an interest in the 27-year-old ahead of the January window, with PSG also likely to make another move for Skriniar as the French giants chased the Inter centre-back for the majority of the summer market.

Reports suggest that PSG plotted a late £70m move to sign Skriniar, yet no move ever materialised as the defender stayed with Inter, with both the Ligue 1 champions and Chelsea now set to approach the former Sampdoria star once again when the January transfer window opens.

Whilst recent reports claim that Inter are working on tying Skriniar down to a new contract, the defender could be tempted with a move in January with his current deal set to expire in 2023, something that could allow the likes of Chelsea and PSG to land a potential bargain, with Tottenham also keen on the Slovakian.

Indeed, earlier reports have suggested that footballing director Fabio Paratici is desperate to one day bring Skriniar to north London, and whilst Tottenham have an X Factor in their bid to sign the defender in former Inter boss Antonio Conte, Spurs have seemingly dropped off heavily in the race for the centre-back.

And now, with Graham Potter seemingly looking to make Skriniar his first major move as manager of Chelsea, Tottenham could miss out on a world-class long-term target to a Premier League rival should the Blues go through with their interest in the centre-back in January.

Tottenham’s interest in Skriniar has seemingly gone cold over the last few weeks, and with new reports that Chelsea remain keen on signing the Inter star, the west London side landing the centre-back will be nothing short of a nightmare for Conte’s side.

After all, Skriniar is a fantastic defender and would be a great addition to Chelsea’s fellow centre-back signings this season in Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly, and Tottenham missing out on the Serie A star will no doubt infuriate Paratici, who seemed intent on bringing the Inter titan to north London.
