Everton will reportedly demand £50m for Anthony Gordon following Chelsea’s rejected bid to sign the 21-year-old attacker, with Newcastle United and Tottenham also interested in the England youth international.
According to the Independent, the Toffees have set a £50m asking price for the Merseyside talent, who last season enjoyed a breakout year for Everton in what was a dramatic year for Frank Lampard’s side, and this campaign as seen the youngster take the role as a leading striker following the departure of Richarlison and injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
As per the report, Newcastle are also interested in Gordon with Tottenham also reportedly fans of the Everton attacker, however, Chelsea now look like the favourites to sign the Premier League youngster in what could be one of the most surprising deals of the summer.
Gordon made 40 appearances for Everton in all competitions last season, scoring four goals and assisting another three, and with Chelsea seemingly looking to go big on signing the Toffees superstar, Lampard’s side have the chance to earn serious pay day for the England youngster.
Indeed, with Newcastle and Tottenham also chasing Gordon, it always felt likely that Everton would recoup a big fee for the winger, yet even the biggest of fans would never have predicted that Chelsea could come in with a reported £43m bid for the attacker given how new to the scene the forward is compared to other players.
With Everton desperate for funds, selling an academy player for £50m could be the golden ticket Lampard needs to get this summer spending off the ground in the final weeks of the window, with Gordon also highly likely to not pose too much of a threat should he sign for Chelsea.
Everton could be robbing Chelsea blind if they sign Gordon for £50m

Chelsea are a club who have already shown this summer they’re willing to overpay for players following their £50m acquisition of Marc Cucurella earlier in the window, and Todd Boehly appears to be eager to repeat a similar move to sign Gordon, which for Everton could be a move that saves their season.
After all, Gordon is not and likely never will be a £50m-rated player despite being labelled as ‘special’ by Dean Ashton, and the Toffees selling the forward for such a fee could give Lampard the resources needed to dramatically improve the attack of the squad as well as bolster other positions in the team that are in need of improvements.
