Italian outlet CMW claim that Chelsea have tabled a straight-swap offer to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot – a target for both Liverpool and Arsenal – by offering the Italian club left-back Emerson Palmieri.

Rabiot, 27, is likely to leave Juventus this summer. The 29-time France international is in the final 12 months of his contract at Juve and despite playing 45 times in all competitions last term, he only completed 90 minutes 27 times.

The midfielder has constantly been linked with the Premier League this summer. Reports claim he would be open to a move in the top four. Liverpool are said to have made an offer that includes Naby Keita, but nothing has materialised.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have also shown interest. But now, it could be that Rabiot ends up at Chelsea – forming a reunion with Thomas Tuchel after sharing the 2018-19 season alongside the current Chelsea boss at Paris Saint-Germain.

The report claims Chelsea have made an offer to sign Rabiot. It is claimed they have offered Juventus a straight swap. Offering £17.5million signing (GOAL) Emerson Palmieri – who spent last season on at Lyon – in return.

While it would be a reunion with Tuchel, do Chelsea need him? They do have Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and other players that would certainly be above Rabiot in the current pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

But there are doubts regarding the future of Jorginho and Kante. Both players are in the final year of their contract. There might be extension clauses, nothing has been done yet. They could both go before the end of the window.

So, while Rabiot might not be needed as things stand, he could be a good signing in the weeks to come. Arsenal certainly need a midfielder, Liverpool not so much. It will be interesting to see where Rabiot ends up this summer.
