Celtic won’t be adding Nice left back Romain Perraud this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Celtic are now unlikely to sign Nice left back Romain Perraud after his wage demands made a move difficult.

Neil Lennon travelled to watch Paris FC in action back in April, and we suggested at the time that it was left back Perraud he was scouting.

The left back spent last season on loan at Paris FC from Ligue 1 side Nice, and enjoyed a fine season with five goals in 33 league games, whilst picking up an assist too.

Perraud, 21, had been eyed up by Celtic as a potential signing as they look for one, or possibly even two left backs, but his wage demands mean that the Bhoys are looking elsewhere.

The Frenchman will now look to push for first-team football with Nice, unless Celtic perform a shock U-turn and make another attempt to sign him.

Perraud has huge potential, and he has become something of a long-shot specialist with Paris FC, scoring a number of absolute crackers from distance.

That would have been a major weapon in Lennon’s side, and the aim may have been for Perraud to come in and compete with Kieran Tierney for playing time after Emilio Izaguirre’s exit.

With Tierney now potentially on the move, Celtic may need two left backs, and Perraud would have fit the bill, but he’s priced himself out of a move.

That doesn’t mean that Celtic don’t have money to spend, more likely that they just don’t think his demands are value for money, with a host of other targets now in mind for Lennon and co.
