According to the Daily Record, Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist is now unlikely to sign for Celtic this summer.

Celtic are yet to bring in a director of football, meaning new boss Ange Postecoglou may be in charge of transfers for now.

A new goalkeeper may be wanted at Parkhead with Scott Bain, Vasilis Barkas and Conor Hazard yet to really nail down the first-choice role.

Celtic’s interest in Siegrist

The Sun reported in May that Siegrist was waiting for Celtic to make a move for him amid suggested interest from the Bhoys.

The Swiss stopper has excelled at Dundee United, with former boss Micky Mellon branding him a ‘top drawer’.

Siegrist still has a year left on his deal at Tannadice, but it’s now claimed that a move to Celtic is no longer on the cards.

Siegrist now looks set to go elsewhere

Ipswich are believed to have made an opening bid for Siegrist, offering six figures for the 29-year-old in an attempt to get a deal done.

Dundee United have rejected the move though, standing firm on their valuation despite him only having a year left at the club.

There may still be time for Celtic to change their mind, but with Ipswich expected to make a second bid, a move to Portman Road looks far more likely.
