Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, but Burnley are suddenly in talks to sign him.
That’s according to Sky Sports (17:13), who claim that Burnley have been offered the chance to sign McKennie before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.
Burnley are believed to have lodged a loan offer for McKennie and are really pushing for the deal to happen in the coming hours.
This seems absolutely bizarre when you consider that McKennie looked to be heading for a ‘bigger’ Premier League move last week.
Gianluca Di Marzio noted that Tottenham wanted to sign McKennie, with Fabio Paratici keen on a reunion.
Paratici, now Tottenham’s director of football, was in charge of Juventus and their transfer business when they signed McKennie from Schalke last summer.

Di Marzio’s report suggested that Juventus would sign Axel Witsel if McKennie made the move to North London, suggesting that it was some way down the line.
That move has gone cold though, maybe because Tottenham can’t find a buyer for Tanguy Ndombele and are resigned to keeping the midfielder beyond tonight’s deadline.
Burnley now have very real hope of a dramatic coup in the final hours of the transfer window, having already brought in Swansea City right back Connor Roberts today.
