According to The Telegraph, Daniel James has now been given permission to speak to other clubs about a season-long loan as Tottenham, Everton and Fulham circle.
Tottenham have been the club most strongly linked with a move for James in recent weeks with Fabio Paratici reportedly a big fan of the ‘brilliant’ Welshman.
It’s not hard to understand why Paratici is such a fan of James. The Sporting Director seemingly has a big think for players with electric pace – hence the obsession with Adama Traore, and James fits that bill.
Spurs had been in discussions about a loan deal for the winger, and while Leeds initially weren’t open to such a departure, it sounds as though the Yorkshire club have now come around to the idea – perhaps due to the fact they’re now in for Marseille attacker Bamba Dieng.
James certainly knows what it’s like to be at the centre of some Deadline Day Drama. After all, he had a transfer to Leeds fall through in dramatic fashion back in 2019, while he completed a last-minute permanent move to Elland Road just last summer.
James may be set for another Deadline Day upheaval, and a move to London seems to be the most likely as both Spurs and Fulham are keen to bring the speedster to their respective clubs.
For James, a choice between Spurs and Fulham shouldn’t be too difficult. One club will be playing Champions League football this season, while the other, despite their good start, are expected to be battling against relegation this season.
For the third time in his young career, James is a player we should all be keeping an eye on as we approach the transfer deadline.
