Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly made an offer to sign ACF Fiorentina attacker Christian Kouame, who has previously admitted that he almost joined Crystal Palace back in 2019.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Ivory Coast international has been subject to a bid from Brighton, with Augsburg also making an offer to sign the 24-year-old striker, with Fiorentina open to selling Kouame this summer for the right price.
The forward spent last season out on loan at R.S.C. Anderlecht where Kouame scored an impress 13 goals in all competitions, as well as ten assists, and this form has seemingly caught the eye of Brighton, who have now made a bid to sign the Serie A attacker this summer.
Brighton have been looking to sign a striker all summer with Neal Maupay linked with a move away from the Amex Stadium, and Kouame could now be heading to the English south coast in an ironic twist of fate, with the Ivorian himself admitting that he almost signed for Palace three years ago.
Kouame said in an interview about the failed move: “You know, I was about to sign with Crystal Palace at the end of 2019. The Premier League is a league I dream of, just like the Bundesliga. But my severe cruciate ligament injury, which I suffered at the Ivorian Under-23, threw a spanner in the works.”
Signed by Fiorentina from Genoa for a reported £14m, the Tuscany club will be looking to make a profit on Kouame this summer, and with Brighton now making an undisclosed bid for the striker, the Seagulls could soon be about to get one over their English rivals in Palace if they manage to sign the 24-year-old.
Kouame could be perfect for Brighton despite almost signing for Palace

Kouame might have came within one injury away from joining Palace, but that doesn’t Brighton supporters should dismiss what could be a very potentially exciting signing for the south coast club, especially with Graham Potter’s side desperate for more firepower in the attack
After all, Brighton have long suffered with not having a reliable goalscorer in the attacker, and Kouame could finally be that player to break that duck should the Seagulls have their offer for the Fiorentina star accepted, much to the dismay of Palace.
