Barnsley received an undisclosed cut of the £15 million fee paid by Fulham for Mawson.

Alfie Mawson of Swansea City celebrates his side's 2-1 win in the Premier League match between Swansea City and Southampton at Liberty Stadium on January 31, 2017 in Swansea, Wales.

Barnsley are spending some their windfall from Alfie Mawson’s Fulham transfer on Bury’s Callum Styles, according to the Sun’s live blog (Monday 6th August).

Barnsley received an undisclosed cut of the £15 million fee received by Swansea City, who acquired Mawson from the Tykes two years ago.

And £500,000 of that is heading in Bury’s direction, according to the Sun, which reports that Styles due to sort out personal terms later today.

Attacking midfielder Styles has played 27 times for Bury, for whom he has created three goals.

But Saturday’s 1-0 win against Yeovil Town could prove to be the 18-year-old’s final outing in Shakers colours.

HITC Sport exclusively reported last month that Barnsley turned down an identical offer from an unnamed Championship for Brad Potts, who plays in Styles’ position.

Would Bury’s Styles be a good addition for Barnsley?
