According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are interested in signing Arsenal target Ruben Neves to replace Sergio Busquets.
What’s the story?
Well, it was the Evening Standard who revealed that Arsenal are admirers of the £15.8m Wolves man, and have made him a target.
However, Barcelona could now spoil Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Mundo Deportivo believe Xavi is eyeing Neves as an heir to Busquets, with the 133-cap Spain international set to turn 34 in July.
The Wolves maestro’s agent, Jorge Mendes, shares a good relationship with Barcelona President Joan Laporta, so there could be something to this.
However, Neves won’t come cheap.
Mundo Deportivo claim the Portugal international will cost Barcelona €50m (£42m), as he has a contract with Wolves until June 2024.
Arsenal must beat Barcelona to Ruben Neves

In our view, Arsenal must win the race to sign Neves, as he could take the Gunners up a level.
As things stand, Arsenal are a bit light of options in central midfield.
Arteta can call upon Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Martin Ødegaard, Mohamed Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga in that department.
However, Xhaka could be joining Roma, while Elneny must be upgraded – especially if Arsenal return to the Champions League.

Neves is one of the best in the Premier League, and alongside Partey in midfield, Arsenal could have one of the most effective duos around.
The former Porto playmaker has scored four goals in 27 Premier League appearances this summer, while also providing two assists.
Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen this summer.
