Report: Bad news for Tottenham as ‘unbelievable’ £7 million target may now have refused exit

As reported by AS, Tottenham-linked midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is likely to reject any transfers by staying at Brighton & Hove Albion at least until the end of the season.

Brighton CEO Paul Barber confirmed that there was “interest” for the newly-crowned World Cup winner on talkSPORT.

Italian outlet L’Interista claimed that Spurs were interested in signing the Argentine hero.

However, Antonio Conte’s side were set to face competition for Mac Allister’s signature, with the likes of Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Inter Milan also interested in his signature.

The 24-year-old, who joined the Seagulls for £7 million (We Are Brighton) in January 2019 was one of Argentina’s best players on their journey to winning the World Cup.

Operating in a left-sided midfield role, Alexis Mac Allister caught the eye, as his technical wizardry and defensive dominance stood out.

In the final against France as well, the former Argentinos Juniors man was one of the standout performers at Lusail Stadium.

Jamie O’Hara described him as “unbeliveable” in Qatar (via talkSPORT) and understandably so.

Mac Allister transfer to Tottenham seems unlikely

AS have reported that Tottenham-linked star Alexis Mac Allister is set to stay at Brighton till at least the end of the 2022/2023 season.

Further details suggest that the player himself will not “force things” just to ensure he gets a move to a traditional top club as well.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side themselves will not let the now-household name leave the club this soon.

Additionally, Brighton wish not to break up their highly-rated midfield duo of Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister till the end of the campaign as well.

Bad news for Tottenham as Mac Allister transfer would have been the dream

Mac Allister is simply the ideal player for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentine has the silk and eye for a pass that several Spurs midfielders are lacking.

However, he is anything but lightweight, thriving as a defensive midfielder since the start of the season.

Antonio Conte is likely to be gutted that a transfer involving Mac Allister seems off the table, as he would bring a ton of balance to Tottenham’s midfield.
