As reported by AS, Atletico Madrid are eager to sign Tottenham and Roma target Caglar Soyuncu in January.

In the summer, the Daily Mail had claimed that Spurs were tracking the Leicester City defender over the summer.

Furthermore, it was also mentioned that the Foxes were open to letting him depart the club.

However, a transfer failed to come to fruition.

Recently, Roma have shown an interest in the Turkish international as a potential January addition, with Jose Mourinho keen on his arrival (via Calciomercato).

The 26-year-old, signed by Leicester in 2018 for a £19 million (Sky Sports) fee sees his contract set for expiration in the summer.

As a result, it is no surprise to see clubs line up for the out-of-favour centre-back, who has made just one appearance in the Premier League this season.

Atleti are aiming to wrap up Soyuncu deal in January

As per a report by AS, Atletico Madrid have put former Tottenham and Roma target Caglar Soyuncu at the top of their transfer wish list in January.

Diego Simeone’s side aim to vanquish their competitors in the race to sign the Turk by negotiating a deal in the winter transfer window.

It has been mentioned that the Spanish side’s plan at the turn of the year is to make low-cost signings, after making a few sales.

Great news for Soyuncu and Leicester but not particularly for Atletico Madrid

For Caglar Soyuncu, he could play for one of the biggest clubs in Europe as soon as in January, after suffering a steep decline in form, which is a major plus.

And from a Leicester perspective, they could end up banking a certain fee for Soyuncu, who was set to become a free agent in the summer.

However, the question remains whether he would thrive at Atleti, considering how underwhelming he has been since the start of last season.
