Burnley are reportedly close to signing Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood.
According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood is undergoing a medical with Burnley ahead of a deadline day move to Turf Moor.
Westwood, 26, joined Villa back in the summer of 2012, leaving Crewe Alexandra for a move to the Premier League as he became one of Paul Lambert’s first signings for Villa.

The midfielder has racked up well over 150 appearances for Villa, but his performances have often led to him being heavily criticised by Villa supporters – and his future now looks to lie away from Villa Park.

Villa swooped to land three midfielders this month, as Birkir Bjarnason, Conor Hourihane and Henri Lansbury all arrived at Villa Park, and whilst Aaron Tshibola has been sent out on loan to Nottingham Forest, Westwood looks to be leaving too.

The Telegraph report that Premier League side Burnley have agreed a £5million fee for Westwood, and the midfielder will complete a medical with the Clarets ahead of a deadline day move to Turf Moor.
The Clarets have seen Dean Marney ruled out for the rest of the season with knee ligament damage, whilst Joey Barton could face a ban over breaching betting regulations, meaning manager Sean Dyche is a little short in midfield.
Westwood now appears to be the player chosen to add some depth in midfield, and the money could help Villa swoop for a new striker tomorrow.

The move will see Westwood reunite with former Villa team-mate Matthew Lowton, and he’ll be glad to make a return to the Premier League having suffered relegation at the end of last season.
