According to The Athletic, Arsenal watched Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg before he’d signed for Tottenham.
The article states that the Gunners sent scouts to have a look at him while he was plying his trade at St Mary’s, and some senior figures at the Emirates were particularly keen to see him brought into the club.
Unfortunately, for one reason or another, the Gunners opted against signing the Dane, and he’s ended up at Tottenham where he is starring.
His talents are best summed up by the praise he has gotten from one ex-Arsenal legend.
It must pain Ian Wright every time he has to praise a Tottenham player, but he’s spoken highly of Hojbjerg on three different occasions in the past month.
The Dane is certainly good enough to play a starring role in the Gunners’ midfield, and it must pain the north London club to see their former target starring for their fiercest rivals.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that Hojbjerg doesn’t make them pay too much this weekend as the north London derby looms.
Whether or not Hojbjerg can have an impact against Arsenal remains to be seen, but it’s fair to say that the Gunners missed out on a great player when passing up the opportunity to sign the £15 million Spurs star.
