Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in signing Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.

A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Arsenal are considering rivalling Liverpool for Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart in the summer.

Poll: Who will be Chelsea’s nearest challengers in Premier League title race this season?

The Mail reports that Jurgen Klopp had earmarked the 29-year-old as a potential target as he looks to strengthen his options between the sticks after a difficult season where neither Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet have seized their chance.

But he could have to see off competition from their Premier League rivals as the Mail suggests that the Gunners are on the lookout for Petr Cech’s long-term successor and have switched their attention to Hart, who is currently on loan with Serie A side Torino.

The Mail adds that Cech is set to become the club’s number two from next season, and Wojciech Szczesny’s future – the Poland international is also enjoying a loan spell in Italy, with Roma – will not be decided until the summer.

Despite the fact that a deal that would see Hart move to either Liverpool or Arsenal would see one of City’s main rivals strengthened, it appears that they have few qualms about letting him go, with the Mail reporting that offers of around £15 million could be enough to make a move happen.

But while the deal would be good for the Gunners, it is surely fair to say that Hart would probably have a greater impact if he moved to Anfield, given how desperately the supporters are craving a first-choice goalkeeper who can stamp his authority on the role.
