Chelsea look set to win the title, but Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are jostling to be their nearest rivals.
It would take a very brave person to bet against Chelsea winning the Premier League title this season. Antonio Conte’s men are well clear of the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Arsenal. But who will put the most pressure on the Blues?
Poll: Which Liverpool loanee has best chance of success upon return to Anfield?
Before you get the chance to vote, here is a look at the contenders…
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
Tottenham were the last team standing between Leicester and the title last season and are currently leading the race for second this time around. Spurs have only lost twice in the league this year, and have the best defensive record of any team. It will certainly be difficult for their rivals to stop Tottenham finishing second, especially if Harry Kane remains fit.
Manchester City
Manchester City are just one point off Spurs and 10 off Chelsea. They have won their last three in all competitions, and perhaps have the ace in the pack in January signing Gabriel Jesus, who has introduced himself to the Premier League with three goals in his last two games.
Arsenal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger
Arsenal appear to be going through the mid-season slump that disgruntled fans will suggest has become traditional for the Gunners. Frustratingly for Arsenal supporters, the slump that often takes them completely out of the title race is frequently followed by a brilliant run of form which gives the club false hope heading into the next campaign, so second is arguably still not beyond them.
Liverpool
Liverpool have won just one of their last 10 in all competitions, and have now fallen out of the top four. With Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester City ahead in their next six, Jurgen Klopp will know that their upcoming run could make or break their hopes of finishing second.
Manchester United
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho
Manchester United may be sixth but they perhaps boast just as much momentum as any other team in the running for second, having not lost in the league since October. Their 3-0 victory over Leicester last time out perhaps sent a statement about what they can achieve in the league. They are just five points off second after all.
