Arsenal will reportedly loan out Auston Trusty in the summer transfer window after the defender signed for the club on deadline day.

According to the Athletic, the American centre-back, who is currently with the Colorado Rapids on loan, will depart Arsenal against on a short-term deal to get to grips with playing in Europe.

Arsenal announced the signing of the 23-year-old on deadline day with the defender set to join up with the north London side in the summer for pre-season. And now, the decision has been made that Trusty will be loaned out in the transfer window.

Trusty has played his football exclusively in the United States, with the defender coming through at the Philadelphia Union before being traded to Colorado in 2020, where the youngster has gone from strength to strength.

Indeed, with Trusty being a left-footed defender, there were hopes around Arsenal and US football fans that the youngster would stay with the club for next season. However, the centre-back looks set to depart on loan.

The decision, though, could prove to be a successful one. William Saliba has shone on loan this season with Olympique Marseille in Ligue 1, and a similar story could happen with Trusty in 2022.

American youngsters have recently been thriving in Europe, with the likes of Weston McKennie, Brenden Aaronson and Daryl Dike making names for themselves on the continent. And for Trusty, the defender could be next if he finds the right loan move.

The centre-back might not be ready just yet for regular football with Arsenal. However, a loan move to the Netherlands or Austria could be perfect for Trusty’s development following his move to the Premier League with the north London side.
