According to Jeorge Bird, Arsenal youngster Tolaji Bola is now on trial with League One side Sheffield Wednesday ahead of a possible move to Hillsborough.
Wednesday had two unnamed trialists in their squad to face Alfreton on Tuesday, and Bola is believed to have been one of them.
The Sheffield Star reported earlier this month that Wednesday fancy signing Bola and were considering a loan move.
Bird’s report states that Bola is wanted in a permanent move, which is now possible with Wednesday seemingly free from their EFL transfer ban.
Bola, 22, has spent 13 years in the Arsenal ranks, joining in 2008. He has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Gunners though, and needs football ahead of turning 23 in January.
A loan spell with Rochdale last season didn’t exactly help Bola, though he was promoted into Mikel Arteta’s first-team training at Arsenal back in May.
Primarily a left back, Bola is a physical figure at 6ft 2in tall and can offer competition for new signing Jaden Brown at left back, but can also play at centre back.
Arsenal are unlikely to stand in Bola’s way if Wednesday firm up their interest, and a move may be best for all parties with no pathway for him at the Emirates Stadium.
