FC Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette if they fail to sign Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window.

According to Le 10 Sport, the La Liga side have emerged as a contender to sign the Gunners captain if Olympique Lyonnais fail to bring Lacazette back to his boyhood club, with the forward’s contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Mikel Arteta has not ruled out the possibility of Lacazette staying beyond this season. However, the general assumption is that the 30-year-old striker will leave the Emirates Stadium in the summer, and now Barcelona are interested in the Frenchman.

The Catalan giants are in for a massive transfer window, with Xavi Hernandez already signing former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January along with Adama Traore and Ferran Torres, as well as Dani Alves.

Yet Haaland looks to be Barcelona’s main target, with the striker set for a blockbuster transfer this summer that could cost as much as £250m according to Sky Sports News. But with Manchester City favourites to sign the Norwegian, Lacazette could be an option for the La Liga side.

With Aubameyang flourishing at the Nou Camp, Lacazette could have a similar effect with Barcelona, and with the striker set to leave Arsenal this summer, the 30-year-old could be tempted to join his former teammate in Catalonia.

Lacazette’s future looks set to be away from Arsenal despite some incredible form from the striker in recent weeks, yet despite interest from Lyon, Barcelona could be a more tempting proposition for the Frenchman this summer.

Indeed, Lacazette and Aubameyang were great friends at Arsenal and formed a solid partnership in the attack, and at Barcelona, the duo can rekindle this under Xavi if the club fail to beat the like of City and Real Madrid to Haaland in the summer transfer window.
