Arsenal have suffered a further blow to their pursuit of Tammy Abraham as AS Roma’s general manager is due to arrive in London to complete the deal.

According to the Athletic, Tiago Pinto will land in the English capital in the next 48 hours to secure the final steps needed to bring Abraham to the Serie A side.

As per the report, the Chelsea striker is Roma’s top target to replace Edin Dzeko, who is heading to Inter Milan.

Arsenal were eager to sign the Premier League attacker. However, it now looks all-bur certain that Jose Mourinho’s Roma side will win the race for Abraham.

As reported by Sky Sports News, the deal could cost the Serie A side £34m. Arsenal were in talks to sell Granit Xhaka to Roma. But the Italian club were unwilling to match the Gunners’ asking fee of £17m.

Abraham has final say on move to Roma

Abraham has the final say on whether or not he will be open to a move to Roma. Chelsea are close to confirming the signing of Romelu Lukaku for a club-record fee of £97.5m according to BBC Sport.

Indeed, the news will be a blow to Arsenal, who have been linked with Abraham for some time this window. Mikel Arteta is believed to be a fan of the striker.

And the Chelsea man would have been a suitable recruitment this window had the Gunners managed to offload the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah.

But with Roma’s main transfer operator flying over to London to complete the deal, it looks like Arsenal have once again missed out on an exciting talent in the Premier League.

But with just under three weeks of the window left to go, the Gunners have time to find another attacking target.
