Reported Arsenal and Tottenham target Ivan Perisic is at odds with Inter Milan over a new contract, with the two parties very far away from agreeing on a deal.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Croatian international is at war with the Italian giants over renewing his deal with the club. Perisic is eager for a pay increase and a two-year contract, whilst Inter are looking to cut down his salary given their financial problems.

This news could be music to Arsenal and Tottenham, who according to the Mirror, are both chasing the 32-year-old attacker, with Chelsea also interested in the veteran winger who can also play at wing-back.

Perisic is out of contract this summer with Inter, and if a solution is not found between the two parties, the former Wolfsburg star will be free to negotiate with a new club in the off-season and likely secure the wage he is looking for.

An experienced attacker for both club and country, it seems surprising that Perisic is yet to play in the Premier League after impressing for big teams in both Serie A and the Bundesliga.

Labelled as ‘excellent’ by Antonio Conte, Tottenham could feel like they’re the favourites for Perisic given this contract update from Italy. And based on Arsenal’s transfer strategy, Spurs could win the race for the Croat.

Arsenal’s transfer plan over the past two windows has been pretty simple; sign talented players with potential whilst also offloading high-earners with no re-sale value, something Perisic, to the joy of Tottenham, doesn’t fit.

The 32-year-old is entering the twilight of his career and likely has one big contract left in him, and for Tottenham, Perisic could be an ideal squad player for Conte to sign in the summer should Spurs qualify for Europe next season.
