Arsenal are reportedly still interested in RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams, with the Gunners eager to sign a player in his position this January.

According to the Athletic, the Gunners have a ‘considerable interest’ in the 22-year-old American international. Arsenal were linked with the Bundesliga star in the summer, however, a move was viewed as unfeasible based on Leipzig’s views on Adams.

The youngster is a key player for the east German side and has retained his starting XI status for this season despite the sacking of Jesse Marsch. And Arsenal still remain interested in the former New York Red Bulls star.

A player lauded by Marsch as ‘special’ and a boyhood Arsenal fan as per MLS Soccer, Adams could be a midfield option for Arsenal this year if the Leipzig open the door for the 22-year-old to leave this year.

Mikel Arteta’s side are desperate to sign a midfielder in the final week of the transfer window. Whilst Thomas Partey has returned following Ghana’s elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations, reinforcements are still needed.

Indeed, Mohamed Elneny is expected to leave Arsenal this summer as a free agent, meaning a midfielder this month would be ideal for the north London side, and Adams could be perfect for what the Gunners need.

Adams might not be the most physically imposing of midfielders, but make no mistake, the American international could be perfect what Arteta needs going forward with this Arsenal team.

Nimble and physical, Adams has flourished for both Leipzig and the USMNT in central midfield and right-back. And alongside a more progressive midfielder like Albert Sambi Lokonga, the youngster could be the perfect defensive foil for Arsenal heading into the future.
