According to The Athletic, Arsenal want to send Runar Alex Runarsson out on loan in the January transfer window.
The report has claimed that ‘there is no concrete interest’ in the 25-year-old Iceland international goalkeeper.
Arsenal spell
Runarsson joined Arsenal from Dijon in the summer of 2020 and was brought in as a back-up to Bernd Leno.
According to WhoScored, the Iceland international has played four times in the Europa League and once in the EFL Cup for Mikel Arteta’s side so far this season.
Mathew Ryan competition
The signing of Mathew Ryan on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion in the January transfer window means that Runarsson is now essentially the third-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal.
The 28-year-old is more experienced, having played 59 times for Australia and over 100 matches for Brighton.
Arsenal stay or going out on loan?
Runarsson is 25 years of age now, and at this stage of his career, he could do with playing regular first-team football.
However, staying at Arsenal would allow the Iceland international to continue to work with manager Arteta and his coaches.
