Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in signing Seko Fofana from Lens in the summer transfer window, according to L’Equipe.
The French publication has claimed interest from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in the 27-year-old midfielder as well.
Lens are willing to sell the Ivory Coast international midfielder, but the French club are looking for €30-40 million (£25.80-£34.40 million) as transfer fee for Fofana, according to the report.
L’Equipe have added Fofana would prefer to stay in France.
Arsenal or Newcastle United for Seko Fofana?
In our view, Arsenal would be more appealing than Newcastle United for Seko Fofana.
Arsenal are a massive club and a global brand, and the Gunners will also play in the Europa League next season.
Just like last season, the Gunners will be aiming to finish in the Premier League top four in 2022-23 campaign as well.
Now, of course, we know that Newcastle are a big and established club in the Premier League.
And they now have wealthy owners in PIF.
But, Newcastle are not in a position to challenge for the big trophies straightaway.
Fofana is at at the top of his game at the age of 27, and he will surely want to be part of a team who can at least stand a chance of doing something special right now.
