According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are monitoring RB Salzburg sensation Dominik Szoboszlai.
The respected journalist was speaking on his Here We Go podcast, where he said: ‘Arsenal are monitoring the situation of RB Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai. He is on the shortlist but he is not on the top [of the] list. At the top are players like Houssem Aouar.’
Now, this should definitely be considered exciting news for the Emirates faithful.
Szoboszlai is a real gem of a player at just 19 years of age. The teenager already has ten caps for the Hungary national team, as well as 115 career appearances, which is remarkable given his career is still in its embryonic phase.
Additionally, in 67 appearances for RB Salzburg, he has been involved in an eye-catching 47 goals – the Budapest-born player has scored 20 and assisted 27.

The Hungarian also has Champions League experience under his belt, making five appearances in Europe’s greatest club competition so far.
It was the lure of having another European adventure with the Austrian giants that played a part in him staying with RB Salzburg this summer, amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
As quoted by RB Salzburg’s Twitter account, Szoboszlai said: ‘I have spoken with my family and adviser, and decided to stay in Salzburg. I would like to have another Champions League journey here.’
Previously, The Evening Standard published a feature piece on the prodigious talent, in which he compared his playing style to two world-class midfielders.

They quote him as saying: ‘If I had to name a player who has a similar way to play football like me, I would name [Paul] Pogba or Kroos.’
Szoboszlai definitely seems like he could be the next big thing, and it is encouraging to see Arsenal continue to monitor his progress in the game.
