Arsenal have reportedly hired Bayern Munich scout Florian Bluchel after nearly a decade with the European giants.
According to Football London, the Gunners have made steps in fleshing out their scouting department following last year’s exodus of the club. As well as Bluchel, Toni Lima, who has worked for Manchester United and Inter Milan, and Romain Poirot, a former consultant for Manchester City, have also joined Arsenal.
As per the report, Bluchel was Head of Technical Scouting for Bayern as the 37-year-old scout focused on recruiting talents from regions such as Spain, Italy and North America, with Alphonso Davies the most recent success story.
Indeed, Bluchel has been part of a Bayern scouting team that have enjoyed unrivalled success in the Bundesliga. The Bavarian giants have won nine league titles in the past ten years, and their moves in the transfer market have been key to this.
As to what he will do for Arsenal, Bluchel is expected to become the club’s International First Team Scout for Germany, where he will combine traditional scouting methods with video analysis and next-gen player profiling.
Since the arrival of Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s success rate in the transfer market has been overall quite mixed. However, the Basque manager got every signing spot on this summer, with the Gunners spending the most out of any club in Europe and bringing in six players who have dramatically improved the first team.
Bluchel arrival will help Arsenal tap into thriving market

Arsenal are no strangers when it comes to signing players from Germany, however, the appointment of Bluchel will increase the club’s presence in the country, where some of the world’s best talents currently play.
Indeed, the Gunners are making the right steps in building up their scouting network after trimming it down considerably last year during the pandemic, and the arrival of Bluchel will no doubt lead to some interesting signings for Arsenal from one of the top countries in the global game.
