According to The Athletic, Arsenal may well be able to get rid of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this month after all.
The Gunners reportedly have two loan offers on the table for Aubameyang from both Barcelona and Juventus.
The London club are yet to decide what to do with these offers, but with Aubameyang left at home as his teammates head to Dubai, you have to imagine that there’s a chance Mikel Arteta will let him go.
Aubameyang hasn’t played for Arsenal in almost two months now after a disciplinary breach that led to him being stripped of the captaincy, and while there has been interest from the middle east, he’s still not departed the Emirates.
The fact that both Barcelona and Juventus are interested is a credit to the ‘extraordinary’ forward’s ability, but sadly for the striker, it seems as though there is no way back for him at Arsenal.
Talks are ongoing between all parties about the finer details of these deals. Discussions are thought to be based on the salary commitment and the length of the loan deal, with Arsenal reportedly keen for Aubameyang to leave on a longer-term basis.
It remains to be seen what happens from here on in. Both Barcelona and Juventus have signed new attackers this month in the shape of Ferran Torres and Dusan Vlahovic, so it’s hard to imagine Aubameyang would slot in as first-choice at either club.
However, playing sporadically for Barcelona or Juventus may well be a preferable outcome to being completely frozen out at Arsenal.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on as we approach deadline day.
