Arsenal are reportedly working on a final decision on whether to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January. However, two big factors could make a transfer difficult in the New Year.
According to the Telegraph, the 32-year-old’s wages and participation in the Africa Cup of Nations will make it hard for a transfer to happen in January.
Aubameyang was stripped of the captaincy following another disciplinary breach with the club. The striker will also miss tonight’s massive Premier League clash against West Ham.
As you would expect, such a dramatic decision from Arteta, who once labelled Aubameyang as ‘incredible’ as per Bein Sports, was always going to cause some transfer speculation. Yet it appears that a decision has not been made.
Indeed, Aubameyang is the club’s oldest and highest-paid player. And if the Gunners decide to offload the attacker in January, it could likely cause more problems.
January sale of Aubameyang could cause Arsenal problems

With Folarin Balogun expected to leave on loan as per the Athletic and Eddie Nketiah also likely to depart for good as per Sky Sports News, Arsenal’s striker position could go from bloated to sparce if Aubameyang also leaves in January.
And unless Arteta and Edu Gaspar have a striker in mind to sign in January, it is more than likely that Aubameyang will stay at the club despite losing the captaincy.
