Arsenal and West Ham United have shown interest in Zenit St Petersburg midfielder, Wendel, according to a report.

Globo Esporte have claimed that three English clubs are looking at the 24-year-old, including Arsenal and West Ham, as he tries to sort out his contract at the Russian club.

With FIFA banning Russian teams from competition because of the on-going war in Ukraine, it has put a number of their players and their futures under threat.

It is said that Wendel is trying to come to some sort of understanding with Zenit regarding his contract, which has three-years left to run.

BRAZIL THEME IN NORTH LONDON

There is already a bit of a Brazil theme going on in north London, with the additions of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City and teenager, Marquinhos, this summer.

Those two have already joined Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli, with Arsenal hoping their South American stars can take them to the next level.

Someone like Wendel isn’t a standout player in Europe, nor has he been playing regularly because of Russia’s ban, so this interest from these two teams is probably just the player being on their transfer list and nothing more.

Added with that, he recently played for Zenit during their 4-0 win over Spartak Moscow in the Russian Cup final, with Wendel getting on the scoresheet.

Nonetheless, with both Arsenal and West Ham in Europe next season, the duo need that depth to their squad if they are to get to take their game to the next level.

The Gunners are slowly making their moves and more seemingly is to come, but David Moyes needs more depth if he is to better last season’s Europa Conference League finish.
