Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal attacker Reiss Nelson.

According to German publication Neunzig Plus, Pal Dardai’s side are keen on the 21-year-old England youth international. Nelson is available for transfer this window with the youngster failing to impress under Mikel Arteta.

The attacker has already played in the German top-flight. Nelson spent a season away from Arsenal with TSG Hoffenheim in the 2018/19 season, where the attacker impressed.

The Hale End academy graduate hit seven goals in total for the Bundesliga side, assisting one.

Indeed, Arteta and Edu conducted business with Hertha last summer as well as in January.

Hertha signed Matteo Guendouzi on loan on deadline day in the summer window. Whereas Arsenal signed young centre-back Omar Rekik in the winter market.

A deal to bring Nelson to Berlin could be more financially beneficial for Arsenal this year, though.

Furthermore, as per the report, Hertha are interested in signing the winger on a ‘permanent’ deal. Indeed, the Bundesliga side are eager to improve their attacking options out wide.

With Nelson having Bundesliga experience and Arteta unlikely to integrate the youngster back into the Arsenal first team for the upcoming season, a return to Germany could be beneficial for the forward’s career.

Moreover, if Berlin are willing to offer a suitable fee for the England youth star, Arsenal can use the funds to reinvest back into the squad on positions that need quality, such as creative midfielder and right-back.
