According to Sky Sports, Arsenal are a potential destination for Georginio Wijnaldum as the Dutch midfielder looks for a loan exit from PSG in January.
Wijnaldum left Liverpool for PSG this summer, but it’s fair to say that things haven’t quite gone to plan in Paris for the Netherlands star.
Indeed, Wijnaldum has complained about a lack of gametime under Mauricio Pochettino, and, to be honest, he’s got every right to be irked.
He’s started just seven league games so far this season – something of a step down for a player who appeared in every single Premier League match for Liverpool last term.
Wijnaldum is apparently keen to return to the Premier League, and Arsenal are a potential suitor.
Wijnaldum would be a brilliant signing
If Arsenal pulled this one off, it would be an exceptional signing.
The Gunners haven’t been able to settle on a midfield pairing so far this season, so signing a player who has won both the Champions League and the Premier League will certainly help Arteta’s side in the middle of the park.
Don’t just take our word for it though, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has previously been full of praise for Wijnaldum, claiming that he has ‘everything’.
“I think he is a player who doesn’t get probably the credit he deserves, but he has got everything in midfield. He keeps the play ticking over. I can’t remember a mistake he made tonight,” Scholes said speaking after Liverpool’s win against Wolves last season.
It remains to be seen where Wijnaldum ends up, Newcastle have also recently been credited with an interest, but if he does come to the Emirates, Arsenal will be getting a fantastic footballer through the door.
