According to AS, Ousmane Dembele has rejected Barcelona’s final contract offer, and he’s decided to leave Camp Nou.
The French winger has a number of options open to him this summer. Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle have all been linked with a move for the former Borussia Dortmund man, but according to AS, he’s not coming to the Premier League.
Indeed, Dembele will instead be heading to Ligue 1 to join PSG.
It’s not all that surprising to hear that Dembele has snubbed the likes of Newcastle to head to Paris.
The winger was born not too far from Paris on the banks of the River Seine, and after Kylian Mbappe committed his future to the club, PSG are one of the most appealing football clubs on the planet.
Factor in that Le Parisiens have the financial muscle to compete with Newcastle, and you can understand why he’s made such a decision.
Dembele could have been an absolute star in the Premier League, but instead, he’s likely to be a rotation option at PSG for the next 12 months, playing second-fiddle to the likes of Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Unfortunately for Newcastle, Spurs and Arsenal, the promise of first-team football hasn’t been enough to convince Dembele to choose the Premier League over PSG.
Whether or not the ‘amazing’ winger lives to regret this decision remains to be seen.
